Has anyone ever used this program? From what I heard it's pretty accurate, and you can usually get between 10 and 20 horsepower of your actual horsepower numbers. Ive used it before.

Here's the future 350 build that I want to do.

Shortblock:
GM Goodwrench Chevy 350
Specifications
4-bolt main with 2-piece rear main seal
Cast iron crankshaft
Cast pistons (dished)
Hydraulic flat tappet cam (.383''/.401'' and 112° lobe separation)
Cast iron cylinder heads with 76cc chambers
8.5:1 compression ratio with 76CC heads

Heads:
Dart SHP Heads
200cc Intake Ports
64cc Combustion Chambers
2.02" Int/1.60" Exh Valves
Straight Plugs

Top End:
Edelbrock Performer Intake (I'm using a performer EPS, but the program doesn't have the EPS available.)
Holley 0-1850-S 600CFM Carberator
Comp Cams XE268H Hydraulic Flat Tappet camshaft.

Compression will probably be somewhere around 9.5 to 1 with the right gaskets and Dart SHP heads.

These are the numbers I got with this setup.
Peak Tq =399. @ 4600 RPM
Peak HP =397. @ 5400 RPM

If I stepped up to AFR 195 heads, But otherwise keep the same setup, I get much better numbers:
Peak Tq =419. @ 5000 RPM
Peak HP =422. @ 5400 RPM

Too bad AFR heads are far more expensive.

You can do those numbers with 99-02 vortec heads and an air gap intake.

The air gap intake would hit my hood, and with my non factory blue paint I don't think I'd be able to get a matching hood color if I went with a cowl hood.

And are you saying that the numbers probably aren't right?

We ran an airgap with a factory ls monte hood. All I am saying is that your head choice far excedes your expectations. For the price of $900 heads you can cover the intake, cam, and vortec heads. If done right youll have $400 to spare. Btw those factory vortecs flow 170cc, I paid $100 for mine from the jy.

Hmm, that's definitely an option then. I just thought that with my air cleaner, it'd be hitting the hood with that Air Gap, but it seems I may be wrong about that. I'm just going to have to find a truck with vortec heads on it at a yard I guess. What size combustion chambers do the stock Vortec Heads have again?

You will need a "vortec" intake. (no center bolts and the others bolt at 90°)

Thought so, but wanted to make sure.

That I knew.

I ran the numbers, and very impressive. Far more worth it than the dart heads.

This is what I got with the same combo, and changing it out to vortec heads and an air gap intake.

Peak Tq =402. @ 5000 RPM
Peak HP =393. @ 5400 RPM

I didn't realize that the Vortec's were that impressive. I knew they were good, but not that good.

And holy crap at that article, very impressive.

I just figured that if you were looking for 400hp, there was more cost efficent ways to do so.

Try this cam in there?

That cam is pretty good.

Using the same combo, with that cam, I got:

Peak Tq =406. @ 4950 RPM
Peak HP =398. @ 5650 RPM

Pretty awesome.

I also found this, Which if I used the right gasket, would up the compression to about 10 to 1 because of the flat top pistons.

And it's only about $500 more than the GM goodwrench long block. But this has flat top pistons and forged internals.

If I use that shortblock with the same combo, I get:

Peak Tq =417. @ 4950 RPM
Peak HP =406. @ 5300 RPM

A couple more things.

What is your compression?
Are you running headers?
What type of water pump and cooling fan are you running? Clutch? electric? Lower Pully ratio, etc.
What thermostat are you running?

And I don't know the specs of the Vic Jr for LSx engines, but I managed to find an equivalent, which should put out similar numbers.

Here's your numbers
I used stock LS1 exhaust manifolds.
Peak Tq =363. @ 5500 RPM 1.12 Ft Lbs per CuIn
Peak HP =381. @ 6000 RPM 1.17 HP per CuIn

How accurate does that seem? have you taken it to the track yet? if so, what were your 1/4 and 1/8 mile times?
